Will beauty save the world?
If we will be tolerant of others’ choices of how to look, what to eat, what to love, what to believe,
if we don’t forget to say “thank you” to those who made the morning coffee or brought the package,
if we protect and defend those who are smaller and weaker than ourselves, help them grow or grow old,
if we smile at a neighbor who perhaps today has “not that day” or “not that year”,
if we listen, we will hear and we will not judge for different points of view or opinions,
if we share our experience with someone who doesn’t have it,
if we do not remain indifferent to evil and hatred,
if we ask a friend “how are you, really?” and we pay attention to the answer,
if we support the one who is struggling now,
if we invite tea or offer a conversation to someone who feels lonely,
if we repeat “love you” to our loved ones (even if it seems that they already know it),
if we tell a colleague “you know, you did a good job”, if he did a good job, but he doesn’t think so, or maybe your approval is essential for him,
if we find the strength to forgive what may seem unforgivable,
if we encourage to take a step the one who until then lacks only that,
if we do all this without expecting any return or reward,
then YES. This (inner) beauty – resistant to time and subjective evaluation – can save the world. Or at least make it a nicer place to live.
Let’s be beautiful and radiate beauty from within.
Not tomorrow. Today, now, this minute.
